If you're driving from Melbourne, take the M79 towards Ballarat. Once you arrive in Ballarat, follow the signs for Sovereign Hill. From the Ballarat CBD, head west on Sturt St, then turn right onto Lydiard St N. Continue until you reach the intersection with Bradshaw St. Turn left onto Bradshaw St, and you will see Sovereign Hill on your left. Parking is available on site, and there may be a parking fee.

Take a V/Line train from Southern Cross Station in Melbourne to Ballarat Station. The journey takes approximately 1.5 hours. Once you arrive at Ballarat Station, you can take a local bus (route 1 or 2) towards Sovereign Hill. The bus ride will take about 15 minutes.
