Getting There

• Bus

  From Bad Gastein, walk to the Bad Gastein bus station located near the center of town. Look for the bus stop for the 'Postbus' service. Take the bus towards Mauterndorf. The journey takes approximately 40-50 minutes. Ensure to check the bus schedule in advance for accurate timings. After arriving at the Mauterndorf bus stop, exit the bus and walk towards Markt 27, which is about a 10-minute walk straight down the main road, where you will find Burg Mauterndorf.

• Train and Bus

  Head to the Bad Gastein train station, which is a short walk from the town center. Take a train to the nearest station, which is either St. Michael im Lungau or another nearby station depending on current schedules. Upon arrival, transfer to a local bus heading towards Mauterndorf. The bus stop will be adjacent to the train station. Once you reach Mauterndorf, follow the signs to Markt 27, where Burg Mauterndorf is located, approximately a 10-minute walk from the bus stop.

  If you are feeling adventurous, you can hike from Bad Gastein to Mauterndorf. Begin at the town center and follow marked hiking trails that lead towards Mauterndorf. This trek can take around 2-3 hours depending on your pace and the chosen trail. Note that this option is recommended only for those comfortable with hiking and familiar with trail navigation. Once you arrive in Mauterndorf, head to Markt 27, where Burg Mauterndorf is located.
