If you are traveling by car, start by heading towards Obertraun, the nearest village to Hunerkogel. From the A10 motorway, take the exit toward B166 in the direction of Obertraun. Once in Obertraun, follow the signs towards the Dachstein cable car station. The cable car station is located at the base of the mountain and is your gateway to Hunerkogel. Parking is available near the cable car station, but be aware that there may be a parking fee of around €5 per day.

If you prefer public transportation, take a train to the nearest station, which is in Obertraun. From there, you can catch a local bus (line 542) towards the Dachstein cable car station. The bus ride takes approximately 10 minutes. Be sure to check the local bus schedule in advance to ensure you arrive on time, as services may be limited. Once you arrive at the cable car station, you will need to purchase a ticket for the cable car to Hunerkogel, which costs approximately €38 for a round trip.
