If you're traveling by car, head towards Hinterriß from the main towns in the Karwendel area. The most common route is to take the B177 road from the direction of Pertisau or Schloss Mittersill. Follow the signs for Hinterriß. Once you reach Hinterriß, park at the designated parking area. There may be a small parking fee, usually around €5, which you can pay at the kiosk or through parking meters. From the parking area, Großer Ahornboden is about a 15-20 minute walk along a well-marked path.
Public Transportation
To reach Großer Ahornboden via public transportation, take a train to Jenbach, where you can transfer to a bus heading to Hinterriß. The bus stop you need is called 'Hinterriß - Gasthof Post.' The bus ride takes approximately 30-40 minutes, and the ticket costs around €5-€7.
