Getting There

    From anywhere in Hohe Tauern National Park, drive toward Matrei in Osttirol and follow signs for Daberklamm in the Dorfer Valley. The parking area is near Schwarzsee - Mythos Bergsee. Parking fees may apply, so have cash or a parking card ready.

  • Public Transport

    Take a bus to Matrei in Osttirol, then a local bus to the Dorfer Valley. Check the local bus schedule for varying service times. Purchase bus tickets onboard or at designated counters and have cash available. From the Dorfer Valley bus stop, it's a short walk to the Daberklamm entrance.

  • Walking

    From the parking area or Dorfer Valley bus stop, walk 10-15 minutes to the Daberklamm entrance via marked trails. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water.

Daberklamm, also known as Dabaklamm, is a captivating gorge located in the Dorfer Valley near Kals am Grossglockner in Tyrol, Austria. This impressive rocky gorge separates the Granatspitz Group from the Glockner Group and marks the beginning of the Dorfertal, considered the birthplace of the Hohe Tauern National Park.The gorge was formed by glacial streams over thousands of years, carving a deep channel through relatively soft stone layers. Today, it's a haven for diverse flora and fauna, including rare bird species and a variety of butterflies.Visitors can explore the Daberklamm via well-maintained trails that lead to stunning viewpoints. The path includes tunnels and an observation deck, offering views of the Kalserbach brook. The Dorfer Valley, beyond the gorge, opens up into alpine meadows, with informational boards detailing the region's history and culture.The first path through the Daberklamm was constructed between 1911 and 1913. It was broadened around 1950 during the planning of a large power plant in Dorfertal.
