Rosengartenschlucht: A Natural Gorge in Imst

The Rosengartenschlucht, or Rose Garden Gorge, is a captivating natural attraction located in the charming town of Imst, Tyrol, Austria. This dramatic gorge has been carved over centuries by the Schinderbach river, creating a unique landscape of towering cliffs, lush vegetation, and cascading waterfalls.The gorge stretches for approximately 1.5 kilometers, offering visitors a memorable hiking experience through a cool, shaded environment. The well-maintained trails wind along the river, featuring wooden walkways, tunnels, and bridges that allow you to explore the depths of the gorge safely. The hike, with an elevation gain of 250 meters, is suitable for most fitness levels and takes about 1 to 1.5 hours.Along the way, you'll encounter the Blue Grotto, a small cavern where people searched for argentiferous stones in Roman times. The gorge is also a treasure trove for geologists, showcasing millions of years of Earth's history in its rock formations. You can return to Imst via a hiking bus, or by hiking back down through the Hachleschlucht gorge or via the Wetterkreuz.
