Walking
Salzburg Cathedral is located in the heart of Salzburg's Altstadt (Old Town), a pedestrian zone. From most points in the Altstadt, such as Mozart's Birthplace or Residenzplatz, the cathedral is easily reachable within a few minutes on foot. Follow the signs or simply walk towards the large Domplatz (Cathedral Square), where the cathedral's impressive facade is impossible to miss.
Public Transport
If arriving by bus, the nearest bus stop is Herbert-von-Karajan-Platz, a short walk from Domplatz. Several bus lines serve this stop, including lines 1, 8, 10, A, 22, and 23. From the bus stop, walk towards the large open square to find the cathedral. A single bus ticket within the core zone of Salzburg costs approximately €2.40-€3.00. Tickets are available at vending machines, tobacco shops, or directly on the bus.
Parking
If driving, the Altstadtgarage is the closest parking option. Exit the motorway at Salzburg West and follow signs to Parkhaus Altstadt. The Altstadtgarage has two sections, A and B. For the shortest walk to the Cathedral, park in Parkhaus B and exit at Toscaninihof. Parking rates at Altstadtgarage vary, but expect to pay around €3-4 per hour.
Use Salzburg Cathedral as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
