Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are in the Old Town (Altstadt) area of Salzburg, start at the Mozartplatz. Head towards the Getreidegasse, which is a famous shopping street. Continue walking straight until you reach the end of Getreidegasse, where you will see a slight incline. Follow the signs towards Festung Hohensalzburg (the fortress), which will lead you to a path that goes uphill. This pathway will take you to the entrance of the FestungsBahn station.

  • Public Transport - Bus

    You can take bus line 25 from the Mirabellplatz stop towards 'Hohensalzburg'. Board the bus and stay on for about 10 minutes. Get off at the 'Festungsbahn' stop. After exiting the bus, follow the signs to the FestungsBahn station, which is located nearby. The station entrance is at Festungsgasse 4.

  • Walking from Salzach River

    If you are near the Salzach River, walk towards the Mönchsberg, which is the hill where the fortress is located. Start at the Makartsteg bridge and head towards the Mönchsberg trail, which leads uphill. Continue following the trail until you see signs for the FestungsBahn. The entrance to the cable car station is located at Festungsgasse 4.
