Public Transport
From Salzburg, take the bus number 150 from the main bus station (Salzburg Hauptbahnhof) towards Faistenau. The bus ride takes approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the 'Faistenau Ortsmitte' stop. From there, walk towards the direction of the village center. Follow the signs leading to Hintersee; the trailhead is about a 30-minute walk from the bus stop.

If you prefer walking from Salzburg, start at the Mirabell Palace and Gardens. Walk towards the Salzach River and cross the bridge. Continue along the river until you reach the bus station (Salzburg Hauptbahnhof). From there, take bus number 150 to Faistenau as described above, or you can choose to walk the entire distance, which is approximately 20 kilometers and will take around 5 hours.
