Discover more about Almwirtschaft Gampe Thaya

Almwirtschaft Gampe Thaya is more than just a restaurant; it's a living testament to Tyrolean tradition and alpine hospitality. Nestled at an elevation of 2,000 meters on the Gampealm above Sölden, this family-run mountain hut offers visitors a unique opportunity to experience the authentic flavors and atmosphere of the Ötztal Valley. For over 20 years, the Prantl family has lovingly managed the Almwirtschaft Gampe Thaya, transforming it into a beloved destination for locals and tourists alike. The hut's history stretches back centuries, originally serving as a summer residence for farmers tending to their fields. Today, it stands as a beautifully renovated structure that seamlessly blends the old with the new, retaining its rustic charm while incorporating modern comforts. The heart of Gampe Thaya lies in its commitment to regional cuisine. The Prantl family takes pride in using ingredients sourced directly from their own farm in Zwieselstein and from neighboring producers in the Ötztal Valley. This dedication to local sourcing ensures that every dish is bursting with fresh, authentic flavors. Visitors can indulge in a variety of traditional Tyrolean specialties, such as Tiroler Gröstl (a hearty pan-fried dish with potatoes, meat, and onions), Ötztaler Käsespätzle (cheese noodles), and Kaiserschmarrn (a shredded pancake dessert). The Gampe Thaya is also renowned for its homemade cheeses, particularly the award-winning "Gampe Kaas," crafted from the milk of their own Tirolean Grey cattle. The cows graze on the lush alpine meadows, their milk infused with the flavors of the local herbs and flowers, resulting in a cheese that is truly unique. The dining experience at Gampe Thaya is enhanced by the hut's cozy and inviting atmosphere. The rustic wooden parlors provide a warm and welcoming space to relax and enjoy your meal, while the large sun terrace offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Ötztal Alps.
