Getting There

• Walking

  The Old Town of Graz is easily walkable, with most attractions located within a compact area. From Jakominiplatz, the central transportation hub, walk north along Herrengasse, the main street, to reach Hauptplatz. From there, you can explore the surrounding streets and landmarks. Note that some streets are cobblestone, which may be uneven.

• Public Transport

  Graz has an excellent public transport system. Several tram and bus lines serve the Old Town. Take any tram to Jakominiplatz or Hauptplatz, both central hubs. A single ticket within Zone 101 (including the Old Town) costs €3. The 'Old Town Tram' offers free rides between Jakominiplatz and Hauptplatz, with an extra stop in each direction. Tickets can be purchased at vending machines or via the GrazMobil app.

• Taxi

  Taxis are readily available in Graz. You can find them at taxi stands, hail them on the street, or book one by phone. A short taxi ride within the Old Town area would likely cost between €10 and €15, including the base fare and per-kilometer charges. The base fare is around €5.00, and the per-kilometer charge ranges from €2.50 to €3.00. Be aware that fares may be higher at night or on weekends.

• Parking

  Parking in the Old Town is limited and can be expensive. Short-term parking zones are available, but parking is limited to a maximum of three hours and costs €2.00 per hour. Consider using a parking garage such as Tiefgarage Pfauengarten (€3 per hour, up to €30 per day) or Multistorey car park Schönaugasse. Alternatively, park at a park-and-ride site outside the city center and take public transport in. Disabled parking spaces are available for permit holders.
