Discover more about Grawa Waterfall

Grawa Waterfall (Grawa Wasserfall) is an impressive natural wonder nestled in the rear of the Stubaital Valley, approximately 15 km from Neustift im Stubaital and a mere kilometer from the Stubai Glacier. This natural monument, officially declared so in 1979, is celebrated as one of Austria's most beautiful and the Eastern Alps' widest waterfalls. The waterfall's waters plunge dramatically, with heights reported between 100 and 180 meters, and a width of 85 meters, creating a breathtaking spectacle. The waterfall is fed by the Sulzaubach stream, which originates from glacial meltwater, giving the falls varying intensity depending on the season. The best time to visit is from early summer to August when the water flow is at its peak due to rising temperatures and glacial melt. In late autumn, the water level decreases significantly. Visitors can admire the falls from a large viewing platform constructed in front of the waterfall, offering a comfortable and safe vantage point to witness the impressive cascade. For a closer experience, trails lead to additional vantage spots, allowing visitors to feel the water's power and the refreshing mist. The Grawa Alm, a nearby mountain hut, provides a perfect rest stop with scenic views. The Grawa Waterfall is integrated into the Stubai WildWaterPark and the WildeWasserWeg (Wild Water Trail), a route designed to showcase the valley's most beautiful water features. The area is also popular among ice climbers in winter when the waterfall partially freezes, creating a unique spectacle.
