    From the village of Micheldorf, several trails lead towards Ochsenkogel. Follow the marked hiking paths, such as those leading towards Altpernstein Castle, a prominent landmark in the area. From the castle, continue along the trails indicated for Ochsenkogel. Be prepared for a moderate hike with some steep sections. No costs are associated with walking the trails.

  • Public Transport

    Take the Pyhrnbahn train to Micheldorf station. From the station, you can either walk to the hiking trails (approximately 2.1 km) or take a taxi to Altpernstein Castle, which is closer to the Ochsenkogel trails. ÖBB Postbus also operates bus services in the region. A taxi ride from Micheldorf station to Altpernstein Castle will cost approximately €10-€15. Train tickets vary depending on the origin; check the ÖBB website for current fares.

  • Driving

    From the A9 Pyhrn motorway, take either the Klaus exit (from the south) or the Inzersdorf exit (from the north). Drive towards Micheldorf and then follow signs to Altpernstein Castle. Limited parking is available near Altpernstein Castle. Parking is free. Be aware of parking bans in certain areas.
