Funicular
From the Hallstatt town center, walk towards the Salzbergbahn valley station. Purchase a round-trip ticket to the Skywalk. The funicular runs regularly and takes only a few minutes to reach the top. From the mountain station, it's a short, signposted walk to the Skywalk platform. As of February 2025, a roundtrip ticket costs €24 for adults and €12 for children (4-15 years). Note that from September 1, 2025, to June 2026, the funicular will be closed for construction.
Walking
From the Hallstatt town center, follow the signs towards the Salzbergbahn valley station. The hiking trail to the Salzberg starts near the funicular's valley station. The ascent takes approximately one hour, so wear sturdy shoes. The trail is open year-round, but may be impassable in winter due to snow. Once at the top, follow the signs to the Skywalk platform.
Public Transport
Arriving by train, take the ferry from the Hallstatt train station across the lake to Hallstatt. A one-way ferry ticket costs approximately €7. From the Hallstatt ferry terminal, walk to the Salzbergbahn valley station following local signage. From there, either take the funicular (€24 for adults) or hike up to the Skywalk.
Parking
If arriving by car, park in one of the designated parking areas (P1, P2, P3, or P4) outside the Hallstatt town center. Parking fees range from €5 per hour to €18 for a day ticket. From the parking area, walk to the Salzbergbahn valley station following local signs. Then take the funicular (€24 for adults) or hike up to the Skywalk.
