Getting There

    If you are traveling by car, start from Linz, the capital of Upper Austria. Take the A1 motorway towards Salzburg. After about 90 km, take the exit toward B145 in the direction of Bad Ischl. Continue on B145 until you reach the town of Obertraun. Follow signs toward 5 Fingers, parking is available. Note that there is a parking fee of approximately €5 for a day.

    From Linz, take a train to Obertraun. The ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways) runs regular services from Linz to Obertraun, with a transfer usually required at Attnang-Puchheim or Bad Ischl. The total journey takes about 2.5 to 3 hours. Once you arrive at Obertraun train station, you can catch a local bus or taxi to the base of the Dachstein cable car station. The bus ride is about 10 minutes. The cable car ride to 5 Fingers costs around €30 round trip.
