Getting There

  • Funicular

    The most convenient way to reach the Hallstatt Skywalk is via the Salzbergbahn funicular. From the town center, walk towards the Salzbergbahn valley station. Purchase a round-trip ticket to the Skywalk. The funicular ride takes only a few minutes to reach the top station. From February 1st, 2025, the price for adults is €24 and for children (4-15 years) is €12. A child with family ticket is €11. From the top station, it's a short, signposted walk to the Skywalk platform.

  • Walking

    For a more active approach, you can hike to the Hallstatt Skywalk. The hiking trail starts near the Salzbergbahn valley station and winds its way up the Salzberg mountain. The ascent takes approximately one hour, requiring sturdy shoes and appropriate fitness levels. Be aware that the trail may not be passable in winter due to snow. There is no cost for accessing the Skywalk platform itself if you hike.

  • Public Transport

    To reach Hallstatt, take the train to Hallstatt station. From the station, a ferry (€7 per person round-trip) connects to Hallstatt town. Upon arrival in Hallstatt, proceed to the Salzbergbahn valley station for the funicular or the hiking trail. Alternatively, buses connect Salzburg to Hallstatt. First, take bus #150 from Salzburg to Bad Ischl, then transfer to bus 542 to Hallstatt Gosaumuhle, and finally bus 543 to Hallstatt Lahn.

  • Parking

    If arriving by car, park in one of the designated parking areas outside the village center (P1, P2, P3, or P4). Short-term parking costs €5 for 1 hour. A day ticket costs €18. From the parking lots, walk to the Salzbergbahn valley station. A shuttle service is available from P1 to the village. Note that access to the historic center of Hallstatt by car is not permitted.
