Getting There

  • Public Transport

    The most convenient way to reach Schönbrunn Zoo and the Rainforest House is via the U4 subway line to either the Hietzing or Schönbrunn station. From Hietzing station, follow the signs to the Hietzinger Tor entrance, a short 10-minute walk. Tram lines 10, 52, and 60 also stop at Schloss Schönbrunn. Several bus lines (51A, 56A, 56B, 58A) stop near the Hietzinger Tor entrance as well. A single public transport ticket costs €2.40.

  • Walking

    If you are already within the Schönbrunn Palace gardens, follow the signs towards the Schönbrunn Zoo. The Rainforest House is located inside the zoo, and you will need a valid zoo ticket to enter. From the palace, walk along the right edge of the landscaped gardens, past the maze entrance and Neptune Fountain. The zoo entrance will be on your right. Purchase your zoo tickets at the entrance; adult tickets cost €27, while children's tickets cost €15.50.

  • Car

    If arriving by car, paid parking is available at Schönbrunner Schloßstraße, opposite the Orangerie. Alternatively, you can find parking at Seckendorff-Gudent-Weg, near the Tirolergarten entrance. Be aware that parking spaces can fill up quickly. A two-hour short-stay parking zone is in effect throughout Vienna from Monday to Friday; parking permits must be purchased in advance from a tobacconist or online. Consider using park-and-ride options at Hütteldorf (U4) or Siebenhirten (U6). Parking fees vary, but expect to pay around €4-5 per hour.
