Opened in 1925, the park occupies the grounds of the former Währinger Ortsfriedhof (cemetery), where both Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Schubert were initially laid to rest. A key feature is the Gräberhain, a memorial grove displaying gravestones of notable figures once buried here.
