From the city center, head in the general direction of Schattenburg Castle. Pass the castle to your left, continuing on the path uphill into the forest. Follow the signs for Stadtschrofen; the walk takes approximately 30 minutes. No costs are involved.

Feldkirch was equipped with town rights in the early 13th century because it was protected by hills and located at the junction of important traffic routes. The Schattenburg castle was built around 1200 by Count Hugo I of Montfort. In 1405, forces positioned heavy catapults on Stadtschrofen and bombarded Schattenburg castle.
