Walking
From the Rossatz-Arnsdorf town center, follow the signs towards Steinige Ries. The walking path leads through the outskirts of the village and into the wooded area. The trail is clearly marked, but allow approximately 30-45 minutes to reach the main entrance of the wildlife refuge. The path is mostly flat, with a gentle incline as you approach the forest. Look for the distinctive rock formations that mark the beginning of the Steinige Ries area. There are no costs associated with walking to the refuge.
Public Transport
Take the WL1 bus from Krems to Rossatz-Arnsdorf Gemeindeamt (town hall). From there, follow the walking directions above (approximately 30-45 minutes) to reach Steinige Ries. A single bus fare from Krems is approximately €4.
Driving
From Krems, take the B33 towards Rossatz-Arnsdorf. Upon entering Rossatz, follow signs for 'Steinige Ries'. Limited parking is available near the entrance to the refuge. Parking is free, but spaces are limited, especially during peak season. From the parking area, it's a short walk to the start of the hiking trails.
