Walking
From the Rossatz-Arnsdorf town center, follow the signs towards Steinige Ries. The walking path leads through the outskirts of the village and into the wooded area. The trail is clearly marked, but allow approximately 30-45 minutes to reach the main entrance of the wildlife refuge. The path is mostly flat, with a gentle incline as you approach the forest. Look for the distinctive rock formations that mark the beginning of the Steinige Ries area. No cost.
Public Transport
From Krems an der Donau, take bus line 720 towards Rossatz-Arnsdorf. Get off at the Rossatz Kirche bus stop. From there, follow the signs towards Steinige Ries, approximately a 30-45 minute walk. Bus fare is approximately €4-6. Check the VOR (Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region) app or website for the most up-to-date schedules and ticket information.
Driving
From Krems, take the B33 towards Rossatz-Arnsdorf. Upon entering Rossatz, follow signs for 'Steinige Ries'. Limited parking is available near the entrance to the refuge. Parking is free, but spaces are limited, especially during peak season. From the parking area, it's a short walk to the start of the hiking trails.
