The Ysperklamm is a dramatic landscape of cascading waterfalls, moss-covered granite boulders, and narrow ravines that beckon hikers and nature enthusiasts. The Ysper River plunges almost 300 meters in height through the gorge, creating a series of impressive waterfalls that are particularly spectacular after rainfall. The sound of the rushing water and the sight of the water carving its way through the stone create an immersive sensory experience. The trails within the Ysperklamm have been carefully designed to allow visitors to safely explore the gorge and witness its beauty up close. Bridges, stairs, and wooden walkways provide access to the most scenic spots while protecting the delicate ecosystem. The main trail through the gorge takes approximately one hour to ascend, leading past numerous waterfalls and through narrow ravines. For a longer hike, combine the Ysperklamm with the Druidenweg (Druid Trail), a themed nature trail that explores the Celtic history of the region. The Druidenweg leads past unique stone formations thought to have been used for religious ceremonies. Some notable formations include the "Phallus with Vulva," the "Sitting Dog," and the "Stone Circle," believed to have been a Druid meeting place. Historically, the Ysper River was used for timber floating, with logs transported down the river to the Danube. Remnants of embankment protection structures can still be seen within the Ysperklamm, serving as a reminder of this past industry. The Ödteich, a pond formerly used to collect water for timber floating, is located at the top of the gorge.
