Getting there

Public Transport

From Mayrhofen, take the Zillertalbahn train to Zell am Ziller. From Zell am Ziller, the Rosenalmbahn cable car provides access to the hiking trails leading towards Karspitze. A single ride on the Rosenalmbahn costs approximately €22 per adult. Alternatively, from the Mayrhofen train station, take the bus number 832 towards Schwendau. After approximately 10 minutes, get off at the 'Karspitze' bus stop. From there, walk about 15 minutes along the marked trail to reach the base of Karspitze. Bus ticket costs approximately €3-5 [Estimates based on general local transport prices].

Driving

If driving from central Mayrhofen, head southwest on B169. Follow the road for approximately 3 kilometers until you reach the turnoff for the Karspitze area. Signs indicate the direction to Karspitze. Once you turn off B169, continue along the smaller road for about 1 kilometer to the parking area. Parking fees may apply. Alternatively, head towards Zillertal valley via the B169 road to Zell am Ziller. From there, follow signs to the Rosenalmbahn cable car. Expect to pay around €5-10 for parking near the Rosenalmbahn [Estimates based on general parking prices in the area].

Walking

If staying in Mayrhofen, you can walk to Karspitze. Begin at the center of Mayrhofen and walk southwest along the B169. After about 30 minutes, you will reach the entrance to the Karspitze trail. Follow the signs marking the hiking path, which will lead you directly to the area. Ensure you have a map or GPS app for guidance. This option is free.
