Taxi/Ride-Share

From Ganja city center, the most convenient way to reach Lake Göygöl is by taxi or ride-sharing service (like Bolt). The journey covers approximately 45 km and takes about an hour, offering scenic views of the Caucasus foothills. A one-way trip typically costs between 25-35 AZN. Be aware that finding a ride back from the lake can be challenging, so it's best to arrange a return trip with your driver in advance or ask for assistance from the Goygol Lake Resort. Entrance to the national park is 2 AZN per person.
Public Transport

For a budget-friendly option, take a local bus (Marshrutka) from Ganja to Göygöl city. From Göygöl city, you can then take a shared taxi to the lake, which is about 20 km away. The bus from Ganja to Göygöl city costs approximately 1 AZN, and the shared taxi from Göygöl city to the lake costs around 2-3 AZN per person. Keep in mind that this option may take longer due to waiting times and multiple transfers. Entrance to the national park is 2 AZN per person.
Driving

If you have a rental car, follow the well-maintained asphalt road leading from Ganja towards Göygöl National Park. Note that private vehicles are not allowed within the park itself. You'll need to park at the designated area near the park entrance and either walk or take a shuttle bus to the lake. Entrance fee to the Goygol National Park is 2 AZN. Parking is free at the park entrance.

The earthquake triggered a massive landslide from Mount Kapaz, blocking the path of the Kürəkçay River and creating a natural dam.
