Discover more about Mughan Garden

Mughan Garden, located in Baku, is a peaceful retreat offering a refreshing contrast to the energetic city. Situated near the Central Railway Station, it provides a convenient and accessible green space for both locals and tourists. Originally established in 1922 on the site of a former fairground as a garden named after Ilyich, the park underwent a significant transformation in 1959. Baku's mayor at the time, Agamirza Ahmedov, relocated a menagerie that was once behind a high metal wall and created a garden in its place. The metal railings were removed, pedestrian walkways were reorganized, and pavilion structures were rebuilt. The new design emphasized a symmetrical layout with a main pedestrian terrace, complemented by a water feature with a small pool and cascading water. The garden's central axis is intersected by transverse paths and small seating areas. The garden features trees and shrubs typical of Baku, creating a beautiful display, especially in spring when many trees are in bloom. In 2001, the garden was renovated with new asphalt, benches, trimmed trees, and a reconstructed fountain called "Shalale". Today, Mughan Garden provides a tranquil environment for visitors to unwind. Its central location makes it an ideal spot for a break while exploring the city.
