Traditional Bahrain Food Tasting Tour

A solo tour

As my tour guide was a local, he was very knowledgeable of the locations, the culture, and traditions of the area. He was happy to answer any random question I had from current events to context of the culture. I was his only tour that day so he picked me up directly from my flat and went to our first stop, and I was glad I was hungry. It feels like they brought enough food to feed another person as there was a variety of different things to choose from the goat cheese and honey to the different egg dishes, and even something similar to a beef stew that I quite enjoyed despite it being for breakfast. We went on to have what I would call a savory crepe, and then go had some street food that tasted delicious. I loved every bit of the tour from explaining the local history tied to the restaurants to the requirements to be inside the grand masque. I would be delighted to do another tour with him in the future.

Great food tour “come hungry”

We were told to “come hungry” and we were glad we did because we tried so many different dishes on this fab food tour. We walked through the beautiful streets of Muharraq and stopped off in loads of cute local restaurants, a tiny original bread vendor and of course Arabic coffee and sweet shops…Yusuf is a great tour guide and his humour makes the tour so much fun. We ate tonnes of food and tried things we had never heard of before. It was all delicious and the icing on the cake was we were sent a list afterwards of places we had visited, what we’d eaten, great pics from the day and more local recommendations. I would recommend this to locals and tourists and my friend who was visiting from the U.K. said it was the highlight of his trip.

From Trade to Table: A Bahrain Tour Like No Other

Ever wondered what Bahrain’s major industry was before today’s oil? I did, and this fun and fascinating tour gave me the answer, then revealed the lives of those who delivered the “goods” in a unique way. I had a wonderful few hours with guide Khaled and fellow tourists as we walked and talked around Muharraq. At the end of the tour, I enjoyed the delicious Bahraini feast spread out on a table underneath a shading tree with a light breeze as a kind of reward. If you’re curious about Bahrain’s legacy, delight in storytelling, and appreciate the company of a knowledgeable, authentic and easygoing tour guide like Khaled, I’d highly recommend doing this tour!
