স্মৃতি সৌধ (Smriti Soudha) in Chattogram serves as a place of remembrance and reflection. Currently, the structure is a temporary monument, inaugurated on March 23, 2024, to mark স্বাধীনতা দিবস. This initial construction is a precursor to a larger, permanent স্মৃতিসৌধ (memorial) planned by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, which aims to mirror the সাভারের জাতীয় স্মৃতিসৌধ (National Martyrs' Memorial). The location of the স্মৃতি সৌধ is significant, situated alongside the মেরিন ড্রাইভ (Marine Drive) সড়ক in উত্তর কাট্টলী ( উত্তর কাট্টলী). The district administration has been instrumental in its development, reclaiming the land from বংশধরদের (descendants) of স্বাধীনতা বিরোধীর (anti-liberation) groups. The temporary স্মৃতি সৌধ currently occupies a 150 ফুট দৈর্ঘ্য ও ১৩০ ফুট প্রস্থের জমির উপর (150 feet long and 130 feet wide) area. The monument honors the মহান স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধে চট্টগ্রামের অবদান (invaluable contribution of Chattogram in the Great Liberation War). Although Chattogram has a শহীদ মিনার (martyr's monument), there has been a need for a dedicated স্মৃতিসৌধ to commemorate the liberation war. The future permanent structure will also include a মুক্তিযুদ্ধ জাদুঘর (Liberation War Museum), ensuring that future generations understand the history and significance of the war.
