DB Haor: A Wetland Paradise

DB Haor, also known as Dibir Haor or Shaplar Bill, is a mesmerizing wetland ecosystem located in Jaintapur Upazila of Sylhet, Bangladesh, close to the Indian border. This area, approximately 42 km from Sylhet city, comprises four interconnected beels (water bodies): Dibi Beel, Yam, Horofkata, and Kendree Beel. Together, these beels form what is locally known as the 'Lal Shaplar Bill' or Red Water Lily Lake, covering an area of about 900 acres (3.64 sq km). The primary attraction of DB Haor is the stunning display of red water lilies (Shapla) that bloom in abundance after the rainy season, typically from September to December, with November being the peak season.
