The ১১ শিব মন্দির, or 11 Shiva Temple, is a significant historical and archaeological site located in Noapara, in the অভয়নগর (Abhaynagar) Upazila of Jessore District, Bangladesh. This unique temple complex, situated on the banks of the Bhairab River in Baghutia, comprises eleven Shiva temples built in the mid-18th century (approximately 1745-1764) by Raja Nilkantha Roy, a descendant of রাজা প্রতাপাদিত্য (Raja Pratapaditya), a prominent figure in the region's history. However, tragedy struck when নীলাম্বর died shortly after their marriage, leaving অভয়া a widow at a young age. Consumed by grief and adhering to the social norms of the time that discouraged remarriage for Hindu widows, অভয়া dedicated her life to the worship of Shiva. Her father, Raja Nilkantha Roy, deeply moved by his daughter's devotion, commissioned the construction of the eleven Shiva temples near their residence on the banks of the Bhairab River. The temple complex is a remarkable example of Bengal's temple architecture, showcasing a blend of styles influenced by the late Mughal and British colonial periods. The temples are constructed using brick and lime mortar, with walls displaying intricate terracotta ornamentation.
