Getting There

  • Launch/Boat

    The most common way to reach Nijhum Dwip is by taking a launch (ferry) from Dhaka to Hatiya. Launches depart from Dhaka's Sadarghat terminal around 5:30 PM and reach Hatia's Tamurddi Ghat the next morning. Deck fares range from BDT 350, while single cabins cost around BDT 1200 and double cabins BDT 2200. From Tamurddi Ghat, hire a motorbike or auto-rickshaw to the ferry ghat at the southern tip of Hatiya Island. Motorbike fares are approximately BDT 350, and auto-rickshaws charge between BDT 600-800. Finally, take a 15-minute ferry ride to Nijhum Dwip for BDT 20.

    Alternatively, you can travel by bus from Dhaka to Sonapur in Noakhali. Buses depart from Dhaka's Sayedabad Bus Terminal, with fares ranging from BDT 550 to BDT 800 for AC and non-AC coaches. From Sonapur, hire a CNG (auto-rickshaw) to Chairman Ghat for BDT 450-500. From Chairman Ghat, take a sea-truck, trawler, or speedboat to Hatiya. Sea-truck fares are around BDT 90, trawlers BDT 120-150, and speedboats BDT 400 per person. Get off at Hatiya Nalchira Ghat and take a motorcycle to Mokhtaria Ghat for BDT 400-450 for two people. From Mokhtaria Ghat, a boat to Nijhum Dwip costs BDT 100 for two.
