Napoleon's Last Headquarters

Napoleon's Last Headquarters, or Ferme du Caillou (Pebble Farm), is a historic site located 4 kilometers south of the Lion's Mound, near the Waterloo battlefield. This is where Napoleon spent the night of June 17, 1815, before the Battle of Waterloo, which would ultimately lead to the end of his reign. The farmhouse has a rich history, dating back to 1757. Before becoming a museum, it served as a rural farm, a tavern, and a coaching inn. On the night of June 17th, 1815, Napoleon and his General Staff stayed here, protected by the Imperial Guard, while devising battle plans. The next day, after Napoleon's defeat, the Prussians burned the farmhouse. It was later restored and transformed to a museum. The museum showcases artifacts primarily related to the French army, including Napoleon's camp bed. Visitors can also see the tables used to draw up battle plans. The museum also features a skeleton of a hussar killed during the battle. The site is open to all and is accessible to visitors with reduced mobility, hearing impairments (with a video guide in sign language), and visual impairments. Audio guides are included in the admission price and are available in multiple languages.
