If you are driving, start from San Ignacio Town. Head west on the George Price Highway (Hummingbird Highway) towards the town of Belmopan. After approximately 30 minutes, turn right onto the road leading to the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve. Continue for about 15 miles until you reach the entrance of the reserve. Once inside, follow the signs towards Big Rock Falls, which is located about 4 miles from the entrance. There will be a small parking area near the falls. Please note that there may be a small entrance fee to access the area.
Public Transportation
From San Ignacio, catch a bus or shuttle heading towards the Mountain Pine Ridge. These buses usually leave from the main bus terminal. Inform the driver that you want to go to Big Rock Falls or the Mountain Pine Ridge area. The ride will take approximately 45 minutes. Once you arrive at the entrance of the Mountain Pine Ridge, you can either walk the remaining 4 miles to Big Rock Falls (which may take about 1.5 hours) or hire a local taxi to take you there for a small fee. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand.
