Car
If you are driving from central Vaca Plateau, take the Southern Highway towards Dangriga. Follow the highway for about 30 minutes until you reach the Cockscomb Basin Forest Reserve entrance. Look for the signs indicating the Balum Trailhead as you approach the reserve. There is no entrance fee for the reserve, but ensure your vehicle is in good condition for the unpaved sections that may lie ahead. Once you reach the trailhead, you can park your vehicle in the designated area.
Public Transportation
To reach Balum Trailhead via public transport, catch a bus from Vaca Plateau to Dangriga. The buses are frequent, and the journey takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Dangriga, take a taxi or a local shuttle that can take you to the Cockscomb Basin Forest Reserve entrance. Make sure to inform the driver that you need to go to the Balum Trailhead. The taxi fare may vary but expect to pay around 15-20 BZD. From the reserve entrance, it is a short walk to the trailhead where you can start your hike.
