Car
From Vaca Plateau, head southwest on the main road towards the village of San Ignacio. Follow the signs for Belize City. After approximately 30 minutes, you will reach the junction with the Northern Highway (Hummingbird Highway). Turn left onto the Northern Highway. Continue for about 10 miles until you see the sign for the Lamanai Archaeological Reserve. Turn right onto the access road leading to the reserve. Please note that you will need to pay an entrance fee at the reserve.
Public Transportation
To reach Lamanai Archaeological Reserve via public transportation, take a bus from Vaca Plateau to San Ignacio. Once in San Ignacio, transfer to another bus heading towards Belize City. Ask the driver to let you off at the junction for the Northern Highway. From there, you can either walk or catch a taxi to the Lamanai access road. Be prepared to pay the entrance fee to the reserve upon arrival.
Boat (optional)
An alternative and scenic route is to take a boat from the nearest river access point. After reaching the Lamanai access road, follow signs to the river dock. You can hire a local boat service that offers trips directly to the archaeological site. This option may incur additional costs and is recommended for those looking for a unique experience.
