Getting There

Walking
Start at the Bumthang town center, known for its vibrant market area. From the main square, head east on the main road towards Jakar. Continue walking for about 15-20 minutes until you reach the intersection near the Jakar Dzong. At the intersection, take a left turn onto the road heading towards Kurjey Lhakhang. Follow this road for approximately 1.5 kilometers, enjoying the scenic views along the way. Once you reach Kurjey Lhakhang, you will see signs leading to Thangbi Lhakhang. Continue past Kurjey Lhakhang, and after about 500 meters, you will see Thangbi Lhakhang on your right. The walk should take around 30-40 minutes in total.

Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from a local shop in Bumthang. Start at the main square and cycle east towards Jakar. After about 1 kilometer, turn left at the traffic lights towards Kurjey Lhakhang. The ride is mostly flat and scenic, taking around 15-20 minutes to reach Kurjey Lhakhang. After visiting Kurjey, continue cycling for another 500 meters on the same road. Thangbi Lhakhang will appear on your right. Overall, the cycling trip should take about 30-40 minutes.

Hiking
For those feeling adventurous, you can hike to Thangbi Lhakhang. From Bumthang town, take the same route as if you were walking to Jakar. After reaching the intersection near Jakar Dzong, instead of turning left to Kurjey Lhakhang, continue straight along the path that leads over the hills. This route is more challenging and may take longer, approximately 1-1.5 hours, but it rewards you with breathtaking views of the valley. Once you descend towards Kurjey, keep following the signs to Thangbi Lhakhang, which will be about 500 meters ahead on your right.
