Getting There

  • Private Car

    If you're traveling by private car, head towards the capital city, Thimphu, which is about 6 km from Simtokha Dzong. From Thimphu, take the road towards Semtokha. Look for signs indicating 'Semtokha Dzong' or 'Simtokha Dzong'. The dzong is located at 846 Je Bamo Lam SE, Tshatshobaykha. Parking is available near the entrance.

  • Taxi

    For a more convenient option, hire a taxi from Thimphu. The journey to Simtokha Dzong should take around 15-20 minutes. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand or ask the taxi driver to use the meter. Typically, the fare should be around BTN 300-500, depending on the distance and time.

  • Public Bus

    If you prefer public transportation, you can take a bus from Thimphu to Semtokha. Buses leave from the main bus station in Thimphu.
