Car
If you are traveling by car, Jakar Dzong is located in Jakar, Bumthang District. From the town of Bumthang, take the road leading towards Jakar. It is approximately a 30-minute drive (15 km) from the center of Bumthang. Follow the signs towards Jakar, and as you approach the town, you will see Jakar Dzong on a hilltop overlooking the area. Parking is available near the Dzong.
Public Transportation
To reach Jakar Dzong via public transport, you can take a bus from Thimphu or Paro to Bumthang. The bus ride can take around 12-14 hours depending on the road conditions. Once in Bumthang, you can take a local taxi or a shared taxi to Jakar, which is about 15 km away and should take about 30 minutes. Confirm with the taxi driver that they can drop you off at Jakar Dzong.
Walking
If you are already in Jakar town and wish to walk to Jakar Dzong, it is about a 15-20 minute walk uphill from the town center. Follow the main road up the hill, and you will see the Dzong in the distance. There are some trails that lead directly to the Dzong, but be prepared for a bit of an uphill trek. Wear comfortable shoes and carry water.
