Car
If you are traveling by car from Gasa to Phajoding Monastery, start by heading south on the Gasa-Thimphu Highway (NH 2). Continue on the highway for approximately 20 km until you reach the junction for Phajoding. Turn left onto the Phajoding-Pumola Trail. The road may be narrow and winding, so drive carefully. After about 5 km, you will reach the trailhead for Phajoding Monastery. Parking is available nearby. From here, you will need to hike approximately 4 km uphill to reach the monastery, which typically takes about 1-1.5 hours depending on your pace.
Public Transportation
To reach Phajoding Monastery using public transportation, first, take a local bus from Gasa to Thimphu. Buses usually leave from the main bus terminal in Gasa and the fare is around 100-150 BTN. The bus ride to Thimphu takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Upon arriving in Thimphu, you will need to hire a taxi or find a shared taxi heading towards Phajoding. The taxi ride will take approximately 30 minutes and will cost around 500-700 BTN. Ask the driver to drop you off at the trailhead for Phajoding Monastery. From the trailhead, you will hike approximately 4 km uphill to reach the monastery.
