Getting There

Walking
Start at the Jakar Dzong, which is centrally located in Jakar. From the entrance of the Jakar Dzong, head east down the main street, known as Chokhor Lam. Continue straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach a junction. At the junction, turn left onto the road leading towards Trongsa. This road will take you through beautiful landscapes and traditional villages. Continue walking for approximately 4 km until you reach the village of Trongsa. As you approach Trongsa, you will see the Trongsa Dzong perched on a hill above the town. Follow the signs to the Dzong, which is about a 15-minute walk uphill from the village center.

For an adventurous option, you can trek from Jakar to Trongsa. Start at Jakar Dzong and take the trail that leads towards the valley north of Jakar. This trail will take you through lush forests and past small farms. Follow the trail for about 5-6 hours, which will eventually lead you to the outskirts of Trongsa. As you trek, enjoy the stunning views of the Himalayas. Once you reach the base of Trongsa, follow the paths leading up to the Dzong, ensuring you have enough time to explore this historical site.
