Getting There

Walking
From the center of Mongar town, start at the Mongar Dzong. Head east on the main road and follow the signs towards the hospital. After about 10 minutes of walking, you will pass the Mongar Hospital on your left. Keep going straight for another 15 minutes until you reach a fork in the road. Take the right path at the fork. Continue on this path for approximately 20 more minutes, and you will come to Shami Lhakhang, located on your left side. Look for the temple's distinct architecture and colorful prayer flags.

If you are near the Mongar bus station, exit the station and turn right onto the main road. Walk straight until you reach the intersection with the road leading up to Mongar Dzong. Continue straight on this road for about 30 minutes. You will see signs indicating the direction to Shami Lhakhang. The temple will be on your left, just past a small village.
