Walking
If you are starting from the Punakha Dzong, exit the Dzong and head southeast towards the main road. Once you reach the road, turn left and continue walking straight for about 15 minutes until you reach the intersection with the Wangdue Phodrang Highway. At this intersection, take a right and follow the road for approximately 5 km. Keep an eye out for local signs directing towards Thimphu. After about 5 km, you will come to a bus stop; from there, you can catch a local bus heading to Thimphu. Inform the conductor that you are going to the National Memorial Chhorten, and they will drop you off at the closest point.

Local Bus
From any location in Punakha, make your way to the main bus station. Look for the bus that is heading towards Thimphu. The bus ride will take about 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Thimphu, ask the driver or locals for directions to Chhoten Lam. The National Memorial Chhorten is a well-known landmark, and you should be able to find it easily from there. It is approximately a 10-minute walk from the bus stop.

Bicycle Rental
If you prefer to cycle, find a local bicycle rental shop in Punakha. Once you have your bike, head towards the Wangdue Phodrang Highway and follow the road towards Thimphu. The ride is approximately 5 km and can take around 20-30 minutes. Upon reaching Thimphu, look for signs leading to Chhoten Lam. Park your bicycle at a safe location and walk the remaining distance to the National Memorial Chhorten, which is just a few minutes away.
