Getting There

Walking
From the center of Punakha, head north towards the Punakha Dzong. Once you reach the Dzong, continue walking north along the main road. Follow the signs towards Wangdue Phodrang. After about 1.5 kilometers, you will see a fork in the road. Take the left path that goes uphill. This road will lead you to the Royal Takin Preserve. The entrance is marked, and it is approximately 1 kilometer from the fork.

Rent a bicycle in Punakha and start from the Punakha Dzong. Cycle north along the main road towards Wangdue Phodrang. After about 1.5 kilometers, look for a fork in the road and take the left path that leads uphill. Continue cycling for another kilometer until you reach the entrance of the Royal Takin Preserve.
