Walking
From the center of Wangdue Phodrang, head north towards the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong. As you approach the Dzong, look for the sign pointing towards Dochula Pass. Continue walking along the main road that leads to Dochula. You will pass a few shops and local homes. The distance is approximately 23 kilometers, so it's advisable to start early in the morning. After about 4-5 hours of walking, you will reach Dochula. The Druk Wangyal Lhakhang is located near the Dochula Pass, marked by the beautiful chortens and the stunning view of the Himalayas.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle in Wangdue Phodrang. Start from the central area and cycle north towards the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong. Follow the road leading to Dochula Pass. The route is around 23 kilometers with a gradual incline, so be prepared for some uphill cycling. It may take you around 2-3 hours depending on your cycling speed. Upon reaching Dochula, you will see the Druk Wangyal Lhakhang, located among the chortens.
Trekking
For a more adventurous journey, consider trekking from Wangdue Phodrang to Dochula. Begin your trek at the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong and follow the trail that leads to Dochula Pass. The trek is scenic, taking you through lush forests and offering stunning views along the way. This trek typically takes about 5-6 hours, so ensure you have enough water and snacks. Upon arrival at Dochula, you will find the Druk Wangyal Lhakhang, a beautiful Buddhist temple.
Local Transport
You can also take a local bus or shared taxi from Wangdue Phodrang to Dochula. Head to the nearest bus station or ask locals for the shared taxi stand. The journey will take approximately 1-1.5 hours. Once you arrive at Dochula Pass, the Druk Wangyal Lhakhang is a short walk from the drop-off point, easily visible with its distinctive architecture.
