Getting There

Walking
From the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong, start by heading south on the main road. Continue walking straight until you reach the junction with the Thimphu-Wangdue Phodrang highway (NH3). Turn left at the junction and walk along the highway. After about 5 kilometers, you'll reach the town of Thimphu. Once in Thimphu, look for Chhoten Lam, which is clearly marked. The National Memorial Chorten is located on Chhoten Lam, just a short walk from the highway.

If you are near the Wangdue Phodrang Market, head east towards the main road. Once you reach the road, take a left and follow it until you come to the Thimphu-Wangdue Phodrang highway (NH3). Turn left onto the highway and walk straight for about 5 kilometers. Continue into Thimphu and look for Chhoten Lam street signs. The National Memorial Chorten will be on your left.

From the local bus station in Wangdue Phodrang, exit the station and turn right onto the main road. Walk straight until you reach the junction with the Thimphu-Wangdue Phodrang highway (NH3). Take a left and continue walking for approximately 5 kilometers. As you enter Thimphu, keep an eye out for Chhoten Lam. The National Memorial Chorten is located on this street, making it easy to find.
