Getting There

Walking
If you are in the center of Wangdue Phodrang, head south towards the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong, which is a prominent landmark. From there, follow the main road heading towards Punakha. After about 15-20 minutes of walking, you will reach a junction. At the junction, turn left and continue walking for another 10-15 minutes. You will see the Punakha Dzong on your right side, a large and impressive structure situated by the river. The walk should take approximately 30-40 minutes in total.

Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Wangdue Phodrang. Once you have your bicycle, head south towards the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong. After you pass the Dzong, continue cycling along the main road towards Punakha. Follow the road for about 5 kilometers, and you will see the Punakha Dzong on your right. The ride should take around 20-30 minutes depending on your speed.
