Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the main city in the Andean Valleys. Head east on Route 1 towards Tiwanaku. The drive will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. Once you reach Tiwanaku, follow signs for the archaeological sites. The Gate of the Moon is located at coordinates C8WF+HG9, which you can enter into your GPS for precise navigation. There is usually parking available near the site, but be prepared to pay a small parking fee.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  To reach the Gate of the Moon using public transportation, board a bus heading to Tiwanaku from the main bus terminal in your current city. The bus ride will typically take about 2 to 3 hours. Once you arrive at the Tiwanaku bus terminal, you can either walk or take a local taxi to the Gate of the Moon site at the coordinates C8WF+HG9. Walking from the bus terminal to the site takes approximately 30 minutes. If you choose a taxi, it should cost around 10-15 Bolivianos.

  If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from the main city to the Gate of the Moon. This option is more expensive, with fares typically ranging from 150 to 200 Bolivianos. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey. The taxi ride will take about 1.5 hours. Once you arrive, confirm with the driver to pick you up at a designated time.
