Meno-A-Kwena, meaning 'teeth of the crocodile' in the local language, is a charming tented camp perched on a rocky clifftop overlooking the Boteti River, on the western boundary of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. This unique location offers unparalleled views of the river and the expansive Makgadikgadi Pans, providing a dramatic backdrop for an unforgettable safari experience.The camp features ten classic tents, each nestled amongst the vegetation to ensure privacy and tranquility. The tents are stylishly simple, with locally-woven fabrics, colonial-style furniture, and colorful accents. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom and a private veranda where guests can relax and observe the wildlife that frequents the river below.The Boteti River is the only permanent water source in the area, attracting a rich array of resident game and migratory wanderers. During the dry season (April to October), the river becomes a magnet for wildlife, including large herds of zebra and wildebeest, as well as elephants, giraffes, and various predators. Guests can enjoy exceptional game viewing right from the camp, or embark on guided game drives into the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park.Meno-A-Kwena also offers a range of other activities, including guided walks with San Bushmen, boat trips on the Boteti River, and sleepouts on the Makgadikgadi Pans. The camp is committed to sustainable tourism and works closely with the local community to provide guests with an authentic and enriching cultural experience.

    Getting There

    Driving

    Meno-A-Kwena is approximately a 2-hour drive from Maun. From Maun, take the A3 towards Nata. After approximately 120km, turn onto the Morematao access road. Follow the signs to Meno-A-Kwena. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended, especially during the rainy season. Contact the camp in advance to arrange for pick-up from the Morematao gate if needed. There are no toll roads on this route. Parking is available at the camp.

    Air Transfer

    The most convenient way to reach Meno-A-Kwena is by air transfer to Maun Airport (MUB). From Maun Airport, a representative from the camp can arrange a road transfer to the camp (approximately 2 hours). The cost of the road transfer is approximately $200-$300 USD per vehicle, depending on the number of passengers. Pre-booking is essential.
