Getting There

  • Air Travel

    The most common way to reach Sango Safari Camp is by flying into Maun International Airport (MUB), the main gateway to the Okavango Delta. From Maun, a charter flight can be arranged to one of the airstrips in the Khwai Concession. Your tour operator typically handles these bookings. There are no scheduled flights to Khwai. Pre-arranged transfers from the airstrip to Sango Safari Camp are usually included in your booking.

  • 4x4 Vehicle

    Sango Safari Camp can be reached by a 4x4 vehicle from Maun. The drive takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours (125km) along sandy and dirt roads. During the dry season (April to October), it is possible to drive from Moremi Game Reserve and the Savuti region of Chobe National Park, depending on water levels and track conditions. Self-drive guests must pre-book all activities and meals before travel. There are no tolls on this route.

Sango Safari Camp is located on the outskirts of Khwai Village, bordering the eastern Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta. Named after the local Sango family, who co-own the camp, it offers an intimate and authentic Botswana safari experience. The camp overlooks the Khwai River and the Moremi Game Reserve, both known for their diverse wildlife. The camp accommodates a maximum of twelve guests in six classic Meru-style tents. These tents are raised on wooden decks and feature en-suite bathrooms with bucket showers, hot and cold water, flush toilets, and vanity basins. Beds are draped with mosquito nets, and each tent faces the open plain and the Khwai River. The communal areas are under canvas, creating a cozy atmosphere. Guests can relax in the lounge, enjoy meals in the dining area, or gather around the open-air boma with a fireplace. Sango Safari Camp's location allows for game drives in both the Moremi Game Reserve and the Khwai Concession. The area boasts permanent water sources, seasonal flood plains, open grasslands, riverine forests, and dry woodlands, attracting a wide range of wildlife. Guests can expect to see elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, hippos, and various antelope species. Activities include day and night game drives, walking safaris, and mokoro (dugout canoe) trips.
