Camp Okavango: Nxaragha Island's Water Wilderness

Camp Okavango, situated on the secluded Nxaragha Island, lies in the heart of the permanent Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa. This unique camp provides an unparalleled year-round water wilderness experience, immersing guests in the serene beauty of Botswana's intricate ecosystem. The camp features elegant, East African-inspired safari suites, each raised on a teak platform and offering en-suite facilities. These rooms are connected by raised walkways, providing excellent views over the delta. The main lodge includes a cocktail bar, lounge, wildlife reference library, and a dining room that extends to an open-air patio, perfect for tranquil evenings. A secluded bird-viewing hide and a sundeck with a plunge pool offer additional relaxation options. Activities at Camp Okavango are centered around the water wilderness. Experienced guides lead guests through the meandering waterways in modern motorboats or traditional mokoros (canoes). Originally built by Jessie, a wealthy Californian, Camp Okavango was granted a lease on Nxaragha Island and was rebuilt to rejuvenate the classic camp, utilizing its idyllic location to the fullest extent. The lodge was built entirely raised on platforms and walkways to ensure minimal impact on the environment below and was the first Desert & Delta Safari lodge to be converted to 100% solar power.
