Getting There
Air
The most convenient way to reach Moremi is by flying into Maun International Airport (MUB), the primary gateway to the Okavango Delta. From Maun, take a charter flight to one of the airstrips within or near Moremi, such as Xakanaxa or Khwai. Mack Air operates these flights. A seat in a small plane typically costs between US$210 and US$240 per person, each way. Upon arrival at the airstrip, your chosen lodge will provide a transfer to your final destination.
Road
For adventurous travelers, driving to Moremi is possible with a 4x4 vehicle. From Maun, the drive to the South Gate of Moremi takes approximately 4-5 hours, depending on road conditions. Ensure you have spare tires, recovery equipment, and sufficient fuel. Park fees for international non-residents are BWP 270 per person per day, and BWP 115 per vehicle per day. These fees are payable in cash at the gate.

Moremi Game Reserve, a jewel in Botswana's crown, lies on the eastern side of the Okavango Delta, covering approximately 5,000 square kilometers. Proclaimed a reserve in 1963, it holds the distinction of being the first wildlife sanctuary initiated by a local African tribe, the Batawana. The reserve is named after Chief Moremi III. His widow, Elizabeth Pulane Moremi, took steps to conserve the wildlife due to concerns about the impact of hunting on animal populations.Moremi's diverse ecosystems seamlessly merge, creating a haven for a striking number of wildlife species and birdlife. Visitors can explore mopane woodland, acacia forests, floodplains, and lagoons.
